From Crucifixion to Resurrection: The Power of the New Man

As we conclude our series, Crucified with Christ, we move from the gravity of the cross to the glory of the empty tomb. We often treat the crucifixion and the resurrection as two separate historical dates on a calendar, but for the believer, they are a singular, simultaneous reality.

To live the Christian life is to understand that the "old man" didn't just go into retirement—he was executed so that a "new man" could take his place.

The Great Exchange: Galatians 2:20

The foundation of our walk is found in the merging of death and life. Paul writes:
"My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me..." This is the "Great Exchange."
When we die to self, we don't become empty vessels; we become conduits for His resurrection power. We still inhabit these earthly bodies, but the engine driving us is no longer self-will—it is a relationship built on absolute trust in the Son of God.

Baptism as a Lifestyle: Romans 6:3–11

Many view water baptism as a one-time ceremony, but Romans 6 reveals it as a blueprint for daily living.
* The Burial: We were joined with Him in death so that the power of sin could be broken.
* The Resurrection: Just as Christ was raised by the glorious power of the Father, we are freed to walk in "newness of life."

In your business or your ministry, you will face "lies" that suggest you are still a slave to your old nature, your old habits, or your old fears. Renounce them. Romans 6:11 commands us to consider ourselves dead to sin but alive to God. This is an accounting term that means "count it as a settled fact."

Choosing the Heavenly Man: 1 Corinthians 15

In the "Resurrection Chapter," Paul distinguishes between the first Adam (the natural man) and the last Adam (Christ, the life-giving Spirit).

The First Adam  -  The Last Adam (Christ)
Made from the dust  -  Came from Heaven
Bound to the Fall  -  Free and Victorious
Operating in the Natural  -  Operating in the Spirit

Every morning, we wake up with a choice. We choose which "man" will lead. Will we operate out of the "dust"—the limited, earthly perspective of the first Adam? Or will we operate as "heavenly people," drawing from the life-giving Spirit of Christ?

The Proof of the Power

The ultimate evidence of God's existence is not found in an argument, but in a transformed life. When a believer stands strong and immovable against the forces of darkness, they are living proof of the Resurrection.

Because Christ is risen, your work is not in vain. Every act of service, every business decision made in integrity, and every word spoken in grace carries eternal weight. You are no longer a slave to the "sting of death." You are a participant in the victory of the King.
Stay strong. Stay immovable. Walk in the Newness of Life.

Summary: The Reality of the Exchange

The Christian life is not a self-improvement project; it is a total displacement. As we have explored throughout this series, the "old man" (the nature inherited from Adam) was not merely suppressed or educated—he was crucified.

We move forward with three settled truths:
* A New Identity: According to Galatians 2:20, our lives are now defined by Christ’s presence within us, rather than our own efforts.
* A New Power: Romans 6 teaches us that baptism is our daily uniform. We "put under" the sinful nature and rise in the power of the Spirit, effectively rendering sin’s authority over us null and void.
* A New Heritage: In 1 Corinthians 15, we see the contrast between the "earthly man" and the "heavenly man." We are no longer bound by the limitations of the dust; we are citizens of heaven, empowered to operate in the resurrection life right now.

The Closing Charge: Walk as the New Man

Pastor, business owner, believer—whatever title you carry in the natural, your primary identity is "Alive in Christ."

I charge you today: Stop negotiating with a dead man. The "old self" has no legal right to dictate your peace, your purity, or your purpose. When the world offers you the "sting of death" through fear or compromise, remember that the sting has been removed.

Be strong and immovable. Whether you are standing behind a pulpit or managing a vacation rental, do it with the "last Adam" mindset. Your labor is not in vain, and your victory is not a future hope—it is a present reality.

Go forth and live as one who has already won.
